Marelli, a leading automotive technology supplier, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Amazon Web Services to develop an AI-driven system that revolutionizes software-defined vehicle testing processes. The partnership has produced the System Test Generation (STG) Agent, an innovative tool designed to automatically create test cases from engineering requirements, addressing critical challenges in modern automotive development.

The STG Agent represents a sophisticated application of artificial intelligence in automotive engineering, utilizing Amazon Nova foundation models, Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, and the Strands Agents framework. This technological stack, developed with support from AWS's Generative AI Innovation Center, demonstrates the increasing convergence of cloud computing and automotive innovation.

The core functionality of the STG Agent centers on its ability to analyze complex system requirements defined by Marelli's engineering teams and automatically generate structured, traceable test cases. This automation addresses a fundamental challenge in software-defined vehicle development: the need to validate that product features behave according to specifications while managing increasingly complex software architectures.

The automotive industry's transition toward software-defined vehicles has created unprecedented complexity in validation processes. Modern vehicles contain millions of lines of code across multiple interconnected systems, requiring comprehensive testing to ensure safety, reliability, and performance. Traditional manual test case generation struggles to keep pace with this complexity, often becoming a bottleneck in development cycles.

Marelli's solution promises to transform this landscape by reducing validation time and improving consistency between system requirements and validated product behavior. The tool's integration capabilities with existing requirement management tools ensure that automotive engineering teams can adopt the technology without disrupting established workflows.

Daniele Russo, Head of System Performance Optimization in Marelli's Electronics Engineering team, highlighted the strategic significance of this development. The combination of engineering expertise with advanced AI capabilities enables accelerated validation cycles and consistent quality across global programs, ultimately supporting customers more efficiently and strengthening the foundation for next-generation software-defined vehicles.

This collaboration exemplifies the growing trend of traditional automotive suppliers embracing artificial intelligence to solve industry-specific challenges. As software becomes increasingly central to vehicle functionality, the ability to efficiently validate complex systems becomes a critical competitive advantage.

The partnership with AWS's Generative AI Innovation Center also reflects the broader ecosystem approach to AI development in the automotive sector. By leveraging cloud-native AI services and foundation models, automotive companies can access cutting-edge capabilities without the need to develop specialized AI infrastructure internally.

The implications of this development extend beyond Marelli's immediate operations. As the automotive industry continues its digital transformation, automated testing solutions like the STG Agent may become essential tools for maintaining development velocity while ensuring the safety and reliability standards required for modern vehicles.

The timing of this announcement coincides with increasing industry focus on software-defined vehicle architectures, where traditional hardware-centric approaches give way to software-first design philosophies. This shift requires new methodologies and tools to manage the complexity of modern automotive systems effectively.
